[ hello, yoo joonghyuk!! are you having a good time fishing.
by which i mean - you almost definitely have company. xie lian is coming onto the area of the beach where he was fishing on his walk, and seems to have stopped, reaching up to pet san lang, whose ears prick forward curiously.
he's very quiet, and very still... but he is definitely watching this fishing technique... and jonghyuk doing it. hey, ]
[ He is very much relaxing? It seems like he's meditating while fishing, so with his eyes closed. His daemon, too, is doing the same... Niah as a black wolf lounges next to him, seemingly asleep.
[ His eyes snap open and he YANKS the fish out? Here we go. He gets... Did I mention how many fish he has. If I didn't, this will be the first. If not, then +1.
jonghyuk's terminator eyes snapping open of catching the fish is very impressive - xie lian claps from where he's situated, because he can't help himself. ]
xie lian nods to the fishing line. ] I didn't mean to interrupt. Rather...I've never learned how to fish with a pole, so I was hoping to pick up on your technique! It seems like you're quite the expert, Yoo Jonghyuk.
[ okay!! he will do that. give him a second. san lang curls up further around his neck and xie lian leans down to roll up his white trousers to his knees, and then proceeds to wade into the water.
he gets about up to his knees, or so in the water, before he holds very, very still. there's silence, save for the waves crashing against the beach, and xie lian closes his eyes. he waits...waits--
and then suddenly, his hand snaps out into the water in a chop motion. water splashes all over, and three fish go flying out of the water; with his left hand, he snatches one out of the air, and then turns around to show jonghyuk
[ Joonghyuk........... frowns........ because... You Could have just politely GIVE HIM THE FISH. He watches it flop and you know what Xie Lan didn't say he was going to keep it.
Into his bucket until Xie Lan complains. ]
I'm mostly used to hunting. The waters at home are filled with monsters larger than buildings.
its okay we'll just say he was aiming for the bucket and missed it's fine. anyway! with that, he may have the fish - it doesn't seem like he's complaining at all!
xie lian nods, though, to the hunting statement, thoughtful. ] I see, I see! We have that sort of issue sometimes, as well - creatures will poison water supplies with their resentful energy or other toxins, and it causes villages to starve. Recently, I've done some hunting myself, and I've found it much easier... I think perhaps because it is a bit more active, and it feels a little more familiar.
Training the mind is important, but, perhaps not quite as exhilarating. [ haha... having to hunt for food is a really very new thing, but! at least he's good at it. fishing with a pole is a new activity. ] I think that's what I'm trying to say.
[ THEY WERE NOT BUT HE COULD HAVE WALKED ALL THE WAY OVER HERE AND GIVEN IT TO HIM. Joonghyuk is just entitled and thinks everyone should put more effort when he doesn't need to.
Xie Lan really talks a lot which is good since Joonghyuk does not. ]
[ yeah!!! totally. he takes the pole thoughtfully, examining whatever bait is on the hook. ] If that's what you were doing, would you mind terribly if I joined you...?
w0, monday

Will Xie Lan say anything now? ]

and he waits
and waits, and waits... and then sees the movement of the fishing line and gasps an audible - ] Oh!
[ sir your fish ]

Niah is also awake suddenly. ]

Oh, well done, well done!

[ He doesn't care about the praise. He doesn't need it. THIS IS ABOUT SURVIVAL. ]

[ He isn't so arrogant to say he's some GREAT FISHER. Tired. ]
How would you catch fish?
no subject
[ okay!! he will do that. give him a second. san lang curls up further around his neck and xie lian leans down to roll up his white trousers to his knees, and then proceeds to wade into the water.

This makes sense if you were fishing in a river.
[ i"M CRYinG. ]
no subject
.... But, I caught one.
[ so it works? ?? ?? ]
no subject
Yes. It’s an effective technique in shallow waters.
[ It is what it is. ]
Grab a fishing rod.
no subject
[ he looks at the fish in his hands, and then nods, going to toss it up onto the pier, where it can flop to its death. rip, fish. dinner for later.
otherwise, he's gonna wade his way back out, and do as told!
a few moments later, he comes back with a fishing rod, coming to join jonghyuk. ]

You meditate, don't you?
no subject
anyway. he nods. ]
I do, yes. This does seem a good place for it, no? Or, a good activity.
no subject
You can do it while fishing.
[ SUDDENLY, MULTITASKING. That makes it suddenly an active activity, doesn't it? ]
no subject
[ yeah!!! totally. he takes the pole thoughtfully, examining whatever bait is on the hook. ] If that's what you were doing, would you mind terribly if I joined you...?
no subject
[ Because otherwise he would just throw Xie Lan into the ocean. ]
I've done my time for the day.
[ So none for him, but if Xie Lan wants to, he can. ]
no subject
[ but he will!! and he's about to start, but, pauses, holding the fishing rod. his questions are very genuine and curious, like a student. ]
...ah, so. Is there any special way to toss this out into the water...? How can you tell when there's a fish on the other end?
[ please help him ]
no subject
[ imagine if someone loses an ear. ]
You'll feel a tug.
no subject
thankfully this one is not so unlucky, so. he nods. it makes sense! ] Is there a particular type of bait to use to be more successful?
no subject
[ IT'S A FISH EAT FISH WORLD OUT THERE. ]
If you have the strength to pull up something that would eat it. I haven't seen any large fish in the waters.
[ until the mini-event but it's okay ]
no subject
[ this small man says
anyway. ] Though, that does beg the question... where do you get the first fish, if you should be catching the fish with other fish?
