he gets about up to his knees, or so in the water, before he holds very, very still. there's silence, save for the waves crashing against the beach, and xie lian closes his eyes. he waits...waits--

and then suddenly, his hand snaps out into the water in a chop motion. water splashes all over, and three fish go flying out of the water; with his left hand, he snatches one out of the air, and then turns around to show jonghyuk

ta-da!!! ]

This makes sense if you were fishing in a river.

[ he is holding this wriggling fish by the tail. it continues to wriggle kind of stupidly in his hand. ]

I'm mostly used to hunting. The waters at home are filled with monsters larger than buildings.

its okay we'll just say he was aiming for the bucket and missed it's fine. anyway! with that, he may have the fish - it doesn't seem like he's complaining at all!

xie lian nods, though, to the hunting statement, thoughtful. ] I see, I see! We have that sort of issue sometimes, as well - creatures will poison water supplies with their resentful energy or other toxins, and it causes villages to starve. Recently, I've done some hunting myself, and I've found it much easier... I think perhaps because it is a bit more active, and it feels a little more familiar.

Training the mind is important, but, perhaps not quite as exhilarating. [ haha... having to hunt for food is a really very new thing, but! at least he's good at it. fishing with a pole is a new activity. ] I think that's what I'm trying to say.

You have to be careful when throwing your line so your fish hook doesn't snag on you or something else.

If you have the strength to pull up something that would eat it. I haven't seen any large fish in the waters.

xie lian quiets for a moment, looking at his bobbling line in the water; his expressions pulls into a wan smile. ]

Are you saying so from experience?
