xie lian has been hunting for the missing person like just about everyone else, and - spotting monika, he offers her a little smile and a bow of his head. san lang, a ferret up on his shoulder, also bows. ]
Hello, Miss Monika. [ gentle as ever. ] No blood this time, at least. [ thank you qi rong ]
So we do. [ with a smile! san lang chitters, friendly if completely unintelligible. ] Being able to converse with everyone last night made things a bit less stressful, I think - and, certainly, seeing everyone this morning was a relief.
...Even still, I had hoped it would be the same for everyone, and that seems not to be the case. [ poor nine... ]
[She may or may not be gently traumatized after the blood incident. It's fine.]
Yeah... To be honest, I think we were all trying to distract ourselves from what was happening. But it was such a relief to see everyone again in the morning. [A sigh.] ... I feel sorry for him. Did no one see him last night? At all?
[ yea it be like that sometimes. xie lian, again, is sorry for his garbage family.
he lifts a hand up to pet san lang absently as the topic of nine comes up properly, and thinks, brow furrowing. ]
I'm not sure. [ mm... ] ...It was much the same as Mr. Marius, if that was the case. It is best that we should not find ourselves alone on these Thursday evenings, I think.
...And much like last week, I want to find out who would have done such a thing. Perhaps we will be able to get more answers from them, whoever they are. [ than you know. qi rong. ] There must be a reason of some kind.
Actually, I was thinking... Since we keep running into each other when the doors lock, do you want to make a habit out of it from now on? Ulrika said she wanted to stay with me next week, too, and I think it's a good idea make plans with at least two other people as often as possible. That way, if one of us doesn't show up, the other two will know something's up and can vouch for each other in case there's no one else around.
[She pauses for a second, as if to gauge his reaction.]
... It's just a thought, so you don't have to say yes if you have other plans. [And then, she shrugs.] Anyway, I know we're technically in a competition, but... Is that too simple?
[ buddy system!!!! he nods to this suggestion, lighting up a little. ]
I think that is a wonderful idea. And to make plans with two, as well, is very clever, Miss Monika.
[ smart girl!!! and then - for the competition bit, that brighter warmth on his face does die down, as he looks away from her for a moment, hand coming to his chin, thoughtful. san lang chitters unhappily. ]
... I don't think it is too simple, no. This sort of competition has been described as something between two 'warring families' to me, by one of the Watchers. Qi Rong... is not the type to act only with some sort of incentive, and if he had one, he certainly didn't tell anyone, so he is an outlier... at least, I think.
But... perhaps whatever happened last night will provide some clarity. I do not know which 'side' Nine was on, but if we can find out perhaps what side the person who killed him was on, we may find some more proof for such a theory.
It is troubling, that that is the nature of such a thing. [ that thoughtful look shifts again, to a frown. ] ...Violence does not solve violence.
[She preens a bit at the compliment, before her expression shifts to something more somber.]
From what I've heard, they both think the other side is dangerous and a risk to the worlds around them. Maybe... they really think that totally obliterating the other side is their only way out. Kill or be killed, you know?

Well, so far... [Imagine if they wake up tomorrow and there's blood everywhere. Terrible.] It looks like we keep ending up in the same place, huh?
