Jin extends her noodle neck out to reach for nose boop. friend!!! ] Yeah, we had a few places like this back home. It's basically a cold-flavored tea drink with tiny, chewy black balls at the bottom of the drink which people refer to as boba.
[ (Wikipedia voice) ] The boba is made from tapioca, which is starch extracted from the root of a cassava plant. [ He's already pointing at the menu, having put in his order. ] You should definitely give it a try.

I do like tea... if there is one you could recommend, will you choose it for me? I do not much like overly sweet things - ah, I have some currency, so I can pay for it, too!

It's been - I feel as though everything in this place is utterly fascinating. [ there's some real, genuine wonder to that sentence, the honesty blatant in the face of this week's effect. san lang chitters happily on his shoulder, wriggling around. ]
It's hard not to be amazed. The lights, the sounds, the motorized carriages! Even the Heavens could not dare to be so advanced. Your home is more like this, though, right, Mr. Dokja?

Dokja doesn't seem bothered by it, amused by his reaction really. But most people in older times being isekai'd into a modern world is more likely to panic and freak out, right?

[ it's very good that he demonstrated because xie lian absolutely would have busted this cup with the straw if dokja didn't show him what to do. he watches the demonstration carefully, and then pops the straw into the plastic top, making a surprised little noise. ]

[ oh. that makes sense. okay. he turns the drink in his hand curiously, and then nods along to the first bit of the conversation now that he's not totally distracted by boba tea. his genuine love for the people of the world shines through - xie lian, the heart of justice, the correct path. ] ...It is a little overwhelming, admittedly, but - it's wonderful, too. I think my favorite of all of these realms have been the ones where we see people living and coexisting. And advancing, too! I've seen so many incredible things, the few days that we've been here. To be able to experience it, even if it's sometimes hard to understand, is a blessing in and of itself.

Besides, we have been to places that must have been confusing for people from times and places more like this. Camebit and Ankheen alike were the most similar to my home, but I saw several of our comrades a bit out of their depth. It's only fair, no?
[ Dokja doesn't add too much to the conversation, but he doesn't seem bothered by it himself. Really, he looks content enough to listen to Xie Lian talk, listening to his tale and thoughts. He adjusts his own cup in hand and takes a sip.
Mm, boba isn't bad, but every time he drinks it's like a reminder that he shouldn't have too much of it. Lips twitch and he shrugs a little at the inquiry on if it's fair. ]
I think even if they were a bit out of their depth, they had a little fun with it. [ Well, minus the weekly inevitable deaths and trials but... the exploring at least. ] Some people may be homesick but I think the exploring helps distract them and take in everything that's new.
[ Not that Dokja is homesick himself, but he is determined to get back home to do what he has to. ]
