xie lian is hanging out at the fountain, at the moment, tending to san lang, who is in qilin form and flopped over on his back, enjoying the sunlight. he looks up from where he's getting a dragon tummy rub. ]
Hello, Kim Dokja. [ a bow of his head, and a smile. ] I would love that! What sort?
[ Jin has a starry gaze. Tummy rubs... if only that was her. But she behaves and sits down just as Dokja joins him with a lighter smile. ]
Of how I became the 'Enemy of the story. ' [ Hope you're sitting and relaxed, it might be a while! ] My company had a lot of enemies. Some cheered for our Fable on, but some others either were jealous of them, or in some cases, even hated them. At times, malice with no basis could be found, too. However, there was one common denominator among that array of emotions. And that was the fact that they had been watching a certain Fable for a very long time.
[ ⸢A story that you spent a very long time with will eventually become a part of you.⸥ ]
Just like me with my favorite story the ‘Ways of Survival’. "However, the moment you close your eyes, this story you’ve been watching will end right here." It felt like everyone was against me. I had become some incredibly powerful being that was on an entirely different level than when I was rising as the 73rd Demon King. Even my company members could no longer understand me. I couldn't tell them what I was thinking, what my plan was... I had to just trust in them. Even so, even if they could have stuck to the scenario and killed me... they decided to fight against it. They decided to become enemies of the Star Stream. Even at the risk of their lives. But... we were always putting our lives at stake since the very beginning.
It wasn't just them though. Even Constellations that were familiar, but not counted on decided to pitch in their own help. Even those that we did not know. Every Constellation that came along for the ride with < Kim Dok-Ja Company >’s Fable was now sponsoring our story. Even they wanted to see the end of our story. Despite all odds stacked against us, it's hard to go against the audience and what they want. Even if it means becoming the enemy, or 'villain' in most people's eyes, I want to reach the ending that ends it all. To give my companions a happy life without scenarios. To protect those I love.
[ He glances to him. ] If the time ever comes, I hope you can meet my companions. I think you would like them and their stories.
[ there are a lot of things in this story that xie lian doesn't quite understand - things like companies and fables - and others that kim dokja has just barely begun to explain, but even still, he's completely captivated, listening to every word. there are some things that are the same no matter where you're from - and the last words of his story resonate deeply with xie lian, blatantly obvious on his face.
by the end of it, he's stopped giving san lang's tummy, and san lang is also clearly listening, head tipped back, both of them. ]
... What a wonderful thing to fight for. [ to give my companions a happy life without scenarios. to protect those i love. ] Thank you for sharing that with me.
[ and then, he smiles, scooching in a little further, chin resting now on his hands. ] ...Tell me about them? Your companions?
[ Dokja seems amused by that almost starry-eyed look. He straightens a bit as the man scooches in a bit but doesn't seem bothered by it. No, lips twitch at the mention of his companions. ]
There are quite a few of them. Yoo Jooghyuk, you already know. There's also Han Sooyoung, Yoo Sangah, Jung Heewon, Lee Hyunsung, and of course my kids Shin Yoosung and Lee Gilyoung.
I can start with the kids. Lee Gilyoung I met with the first scenario, he was able to survive and I took him with me from then on. He's got a talent for communicating with insects. Shin Yoosung I came across much later all on her lonesome. She had survived all by herself up until that point. Her own talent is similar to Gilyoung-ah's, but hers are with beasts. They were both eleven when it all started. They sometimes fight with each other but, they're very good kids.
[ There is... so much fond, so much love, when he talks about these kids. ]
